The Operations Department consists of four departments working together to
achieve District goals and to fulfill the Mission Statement. Those departments
include: Housekeeping Services, Maintenance, Grounds, and Security and are
under the direction of Mr. Tom Maines, Operations Manager.
Housekeeping Services handle all aspects of daily cleaning and classroom
preparedness. The cleaning philosophy is “cleaning for health”. MSAD 71 is
expanding their use of “Green” cleaning products for the health and safety of
all. A book of standards has been developed and is used as a guideline and is
the protocol in all cleaning aspects.
The Maintenance Department consists of five employees, each with a specialized
trade: plumbing/heating, carpentry and cabinetry, HVAC mechanics, etc. They
handle all indoor and outdoor maintenance, preventive and routine, from roof
to foundation.
The Grounds Department has three employees. Their responsibilities include
field preparation for all athletic events for two seasons (fall and spring).
They are also completely responsible for all lawn care, parking lots,
playgrounds and all wooded areas owned by MSAD #71. They also plow and sand
all district driveways and parking lots during the winter months.
The Security Department has one full-time employee; the School Resource
Officer acts as backup when needed. Securities personnel are responsible for
tracking and distribution of all keys, security codes and alarm systems. A
strong working knowledge of each building and its operating systems is an
important role as they are the first responders in emergencies.
The Operations Department is a knowledgeable group who strives to make MSAD 71
an exceptional environment for learning and is proud of the district’s
buildings and grounds. Please stop by to meet our staff or to familiarize
yourself with our department. The Operations Office is located at Kennebunk
High School in the lower level of ‘B’ Building. We hope you’ll take the time
to meet us.
