PRINCIPALS-GENERAL DUTIES
The Principal is the educational leader of the school in which he/she serves. He/she shall administer and supervise his/her school in accordance with such procedures and policies as the Board of School Directors and the Superintendent of Schools shall prescribe. He/she shall keep the Superintendent advised relative to the conditions and needs of his/her school.
The Principal is responsible for maintaining a close relationship with parents in the community. He/she should interpret the educational program to the people.
The Principal, in concert with other appropriate supervisors, is responsible and accountable for all personnel conducting activities and services in his/her school.

IMPROVEMENT OF INSTRUCTION: PRINCIPALS
The Principal shall administer and supervise his/her school in such a manner as to improve instruction, help each teacher grow professionally, and to build the morale of the school staff.

PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITY OF THE PRINCIPAL
The Principal keeps himself/herself informed of modern educational thought and practice. It is assumed that he/she will encourage and participate in:
1. Visitations to other schools and school systems.
2. Attendance at educational conferences.
3. The reading of modern educational periodicals and books upon this subject.
4. New teaching practices through advanced study.
5. In-service activities that are established within the school system.
6. Professional associations.

EMERGENCIES: PRINCIPALS
Each Principal is responsible for taking all reasonable precautions to safeguard the health and well-being of pupils and staff members in his/her school. He/she shall formulate adequate plans for meeting emergencies such as fire, storm, or other sudden danger and submit copies of such plans to the Superintendent of Schools. He/she shall report to the Superintendent promptly and keep a record of all serious accidents at his/her school.
