SALARY SCHEDULES AND FRINGE BENEFITS

 

Teachers' Salary Schedule, Nurses’ Salary Schedule, and Fringe Benefits are negotiable items and are found under the Teacher Contract, (KKEA) Kennebunk Kennebunkport Educators Association.

Educational Technicians Salary Schedule and Fringe Benefits are negotiable items and are found under the Education Technician Contract, (KKEA) Kennebunk Kennebunkport Educators Association.

Bus Drivers' Salary Schedule and Fringe Benefits are negotiable items and are found under the Bus Drivers Contract, Teamsters Union.

Custodial/Maintenance/Grounds Unit Salary Schedule and Fringe Benefits are negotiable items and are found under the Custodial/Maintenance/Grounds Unit Contract, (KKEA) Kennebunk Kennebunkport Educators Association.

All other employees of the District shall have their salary schedules and fringe benefits reviewed annually, during budget preparation time, by the Board of School Directors.  (Fringe benefits for non-union groups are shown on the following pages.)

           Fringe Benefits - All Non-Union Groups

 

A.        Paid Sick Leave:

 

Employees shall accumulate sick leave at the rate of one and one-half (1 1/2) days per month worked to a maximum of fifteen (15) days annually, for personal illness and/or serious immediate family illness.  Unused sick leave shall accumulate to a maximum of 165 days, subject to the following conditions:

 

1.         The absence shall not qualify for sick leave if compensation is actually received pursuant to Worker’s Compensation.

 

2.         If the absence exceeds three (3) consecutive working days, or is on the employee’s last scheduled working day before and/or the first scheduled working day after a vacation or holiday, the supervisor shall have the right to request a certificate from a medical doctor, certifying the nature of the illness or injury which necessitated the absence.

 

3.         There shall be no payment for any unused sick leave days.

 

4.         All employees shall attempt to make dentist or doctor appointments outside of working hours.  If this is not possible, sick leave may be used for such appointments.

 

B.         Paid Personal Days:

 

Two personal days per year shall be granted for personal business.  Whenever possible a two day notification to your immediate supervisor is required.  Personal business days shall be granted for business which cannot be transacted after regular working hours.  Personal days immediately preceding and following school holidays and vacations may only be granted with approval by the Superintendent of Schools.

 

C.        Bereavement Leave:

 In the event of a death in the immediate family of any employee, the employee shall be granted up to five (5) consecutive days of paid leave for household adjustments and/or to attend funeral services.  Immediate family shall be defined as spouse, child, parents, brothers, sisters, legal guardians or wards, grandchildren and grandparents and parents-in-law.

 Two days with pay shall be granted for the death of aunt, uncle, niece or nephew, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, and grandparents-in-law.

 At the sole discretion of the Superintendent, additional time may be granted.

D.        Paid Holidays:

 

All employees who work the school year are paid for eleven holidays.  Those holidays are: Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day (2  days), Christmas Day, Martin Luther King Day, Memorial Day, New Years Day, Presidents Day, Patriots Day.  Employees who work the full calendar year receive an additional holiday, July 4th.

 

E.         Paid Vacation:

 

All employees not covered by any other contract who work the full calendar year, will accumulate paid vacation time on a basis of one day per month for up to ten (10) working days for the first year of employment.  At the beginning of the next fiscal year, vacation days earned to date may be taken.  After five years, the annual vacation with pay shall be three weeks; after 25 years, the annual vacation with pay shall be four weeks.  Employees in the above category who work less than a 40 hour week shall have their vacation time proratedVacation time shall be arranged with the supervisor in charge.

 

F.         Medical Insurance:

 

Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield Health Insurance, up to full family coverage, will be provided at 15% cost of Choice Plus to any employee who works full time.  For any employee who works less than forty (40) hours per week, district contribution towards benefits are prorated accordingly.

 

G.        Dental Insurance:

 

Single subscriber Dental Insurance will be provided at no cost to any employee who works a minimum of 15 hours per week. 

 

Dependent coverage shall be offered at employee cost.

 

H.                 Social Security:

 

For all eligible employees, the District shall pay a social security contribution equal to that which the employee pays.

 

I.          Maine State Retirement System:

 

M.S.A.D. No. 71 is a participating member of the Maine State Retirement System.  This means that most employees of the District are eligible to join the Maine State Retirement System.  Those who choose to join will have contributions deducted from their pay at the rate determined by the Maine State Retirement System.  A District contribution,

calculated annually, will be sent to Maine State Retirement along with the employee’s contribution.

 

J.          Medicare:

 

All new employees in M.S.A.D. No. 71, must contribute a percentage as determined by Social Security for Medicare.  The District also contributes a like amount to that fund.

 

K.        Longevity:

 

In the budget year following the completion of five years of service, all full time employees not covered by any other contract shall receive $150 longevity pay.  In the budget year following the completion of ten years of service, all full time employees not covered by any other contract shall receive $300 longevity pay; and in the budget year following the complete of fifteen years of service, all full time employees not covered by any other contract will receive $425 longevity pay.  Any employee covered by this policy who does not work a full calendar year will be paid longevity on a prorated basis.

 

L.         Payment of Wages:

 

The wages of an employee shall begin at the time he/she reports for duty; payments shall be bi-weekly based on hours worked in the previous two weeks – 26 payments.

 

M.               Proration of Benefits:

 

Personal days, paid vacation, medical and dental insurance, and longevity pay will be prorated for employees who work less than forty (40) hours per week and/or fifty-two (52) weeks per year.

All employees hired prior to September 1, 1992, working less than half-time will receive half benefits.  Employees working half-time or more will receive full benefits.

All employees hired after September 1, 1992, will receive benefits prorated equal to the fraction of a full-time contract worked.
