AFFECTIVE EDUCATION PROGRAM
It is the policy of M.S.A.D. No. 71 to respect the decisions of parents regarding their children’s participation in any affective education curriculum programs. We respect the rights of parents themselves to teach sensitive areas of affective education in a way that best meets their families’ needs and will work with interested parents to provide instructional resources, under the following guidelines:.
1. The administration will continue to have informational meetings with both parents and staff regarding the affective education programs in M.S.A.D. No. 71.
2. A concise, written summary of programs being used will be made available to parents and will be sent home.
3. Parents who do not want their children to participate in the programs described at informational meetings may ask, in writing, that their children be excluded.
4. A list of productive activities that youngsters excluded from programs may be engaged in will be provided to the parents.
