COMMUNICABLE DISEASES: EXCLUSION AND READMISSION TO

SCHOOL

The school’s chief responsibilities in the control of communicable disease are to encourage parents to make full use of all available preventative measures; to see that sick children do not come to school; to arrange to return sick children home who become sick while at school; and to protect pupils, from exposure to communicable disease.

It is required that any pupil who has been absent with a reportable communicable disease, be readmitted to school only on presentation of a statement signed by a physician or authorization of the school nurse.

Reportable communicable diseases include, but are not limited to, hepatitis, measles, mumps, rubella, diphtheria and pertussis.
